Penn State Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

Thank you!

yes. summer is part of the ‘prior’ year, so for Summer of 2025, it is the 24-25 FAFSA.

I assume that doesn’t qualify for Fed loans since it would not be full time.

I don’t know. But I thought 6 credits is considered full-time for a 6 week session?

Good question for the Student Aid office.

Anyone hear back on their reconsideration request yet? It’s been 4 weeks since I submitted mine. I know they said it could take 6-8 weeks. So hard to be patient.

Two of those weeks I don’t know if anyone reviewed them (Christmas/New Year’s). So while it feels like 4 weeks, it really is only 2. And they may not have started until they pushed all EA first decisions out yet. If that is the case, it really has only been a week then.

I know patience is tough. Just trying to share a different perspective. good luck.

Yeah, I want them to take their time with these. Maybe actually read the personal statements…

So we didn’t get an answer with EA because my son’s transcripts were received late (error by school can’t say how frustrated we are - but they have a lot to deal with so it is what it is). Anyone know if the are sending out priority decisions - and if there is a separate thread for that. It says they will be out by 1/31.

Oh no… I feel awful for you!!! I’ve heard horror stories of this in past even my nephew too… this makes me think however “bad” I feel for reminding the Guidance Counselor to send things in… you know, pestering them a bit… I mean someone has to do it.

My understanding is 1/31 is the date to your question.

This (below) should be the thread for non EA/non reconsideration decisions, to come around/by 1/31

Did you call admissions?

thank you, that was kind of you to reply so quickly, good luck

Sorry, I gave the wrong information! It was for another board. Might want to give a call.

Do you know if both the application and all required materials, including the SRAR, were received by November 1? She could call admissions and ask. If one or more items weren’t received by Nov. 1, she was not evaluated in the EA batch. Hopefully she will hear soon.

yep, everything received all green checks,
I guess I’ll have her call
not an auspicious beginning to application season

You’re right to be confused! Something doesn’t add up.
I would call first thing because if everything was in Nov1 she should have heard already (and based on past decisions it should have been a positive answer).

took your advice and called, “we received an unusually high number of EA applications and are still evaluating them, hopefully will be able to notify all EA applicants in the first half of January”, “not all EA applicants have been notified yet”
kinda relieved, but not really
going to call again at the end of the week - appreciate this forum

I’m really sorry. They really should have gotten through the EA batch by the deadline. Or at the very least sent an email or posted a message about it in the portal

A friend of mine’s son got his reconsideration request approved for DUS at UP. He only submitted it last week. Frustrating!

Question - I went into my son’s portal and when I click “Campus Info” it gives me UP - this is the first time I’ve been in it. Is it UP for everyone even if you’re 2+2 for another campus?
