At this point the possibilities are
Accepted Fall UP
Accepted Summer UP
Accepted to branch campus
Deferred
whooops! looks like we were both replying at the same time!
Penn and Penn State are two different schools.
outcomes are:
-
accepted for fall
-
if not accepted for fall, was summer checked?
=> if summer checked, and meet criteria, accepted for summer
=> if summer not checked, send to branch campus for review -
branch campus (2+2)
-
deferred (meaning no decision at this point)
-
There are minimal denials, they happen if summer was not checked and the student is not offered fall AND no alternate campus choice was selected.
There is no such thing as a change of major on admissionsâ behalf. For a major change, you have to request a reconsideration with a major change.
Thank you!
Thank you for clarifying and responding! Penn State is what I meant.
Yes. I think there was a place in the portal where the intended major was where you could send an email requesting the change. Some people on this forum indicated they called, but this was simpler. She emailed around 10am and received a response by noon that her major was changed.
Thanks Nursingmom27! He applied to Smeal Business Undecided. Hopefully it works out.
Thanks, MYOS1643!! He has already checked the box he would go in summer, So if he hears 2+2, would he just ask to be reconsidered as DUS? Or do we need to specify DUS and summer?
Iâm not sure what it looks like but make sure the âsummerâ box is checked and then change major to DUS.
how long does reconsideration take? i submitted last week and checked summer.
A few days to a couple weeks.
oh wow thatâs a lot shorter than i would have expected . Is it randomly assessed like my original ap? or is it in a different pile
honestly, it depends on your stats and the factors that you have resubmitted for. For example, a original Smeal choice who adds summer and DUS may be easy admit for those factors, so the decision may go quickly.
But we all know the crazy nature of Admissions, so I wouldnât count on anything quickly. If it does, it is a bonus.
Yeah itâs so random. My stats are 4.02 W, 8 aps, 5 dual enrollment, good ec, few hundred volunteer hours, eagle scout, varsity golf and legacy. i got 2+2 harrisburg for College of engineering. i reapplied for information tech department for applied data science and checked summer term start.hopefully i can get a summer start at UP
Hey quick question, I applied early action and summer session for first choice and applied to DUS. Gpa is 3.75W and 3.63UW, I havenât heard back yet, is this a bad sign?
i donât think itâs a bad sign. i had a 3.45uw and got my decision last week. It truly is random
Gotcha, if you donât mind me asking what was ur decision?
I got 2+2 for COE harrisburg but i requested reconsideration for UP for an easier major. (mistake for applying directly to COE)
I applied DUS for summer session but still waiting to hear back. Any thoughts on my chances at UP
I have a 3.45 unweighted with majority honors classes, school doesnât offer many ap classes either. Test optional as well
OOS Daughter applied for engineering (undecided). She took 5-6 AP so far and is taking Calculus AB , Physics C and AP Macro this year.
Stats: 3.7 unweighted GPA (not sure about weighted but her transcript shows 96% weighted cumulative average) Her AP tests are mostly 4s with 5s in History and Eng. SAT score filed is 1440 (1490 superscore)
Stats are unimpressive for her highly selective tech school, but we hoped they would be good for PSU.
Would be nice if we hear back before holidays
My child has similar stats and applied for the same major and we have yet to hear as well. I am no expert, but I think theyâre going by major since you tend to hear people get accepted from the same one at around the same time.
