Penn State Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

An email goes out at midnight saying to check your portal. Some have reported that after 7pm, prior to email, they have a change to their test optional button in the portal. They are able to then log into lionpath and see decision.

when you completed the SRAR, if you followed directions, you essentially put your weighted and unweighted in there. It asked for grades, the level of the classes, and the credits, so they use that raw data to compute their own weighted. (they normalize the weighting across HS). you should be fine if you did it that way.

On the SRAR there isnt a choice to do both unweighted and weighted, so i picked weighted because it was the highest so hopefully they see unweighted

When my son completed the SRAR it asked for both weighted and unweighted GPA

Interesting, all of my friends had to pick either unweighted or weighted, maybe it changed who knows

Is the 3.4-3.6 unweighted? Does Penn State consider weighted GPA? My daughter is waiting on political science. Her Weighted GPA is definitely 4.0, I honestly don’t know her unweighted
.she did everything her self. I haven’t seen any poli sci. Do you know how competitive that major is? You seem very well versed here so I thought i’d ask. I’m also trying to think of what a good major would be if she needs to reconsider. We are OOS and i know she was not interested in summer. We don’t end here until late, June

what time of night does the button typically disappear?

You give them all the individual grades and classes - from there it is as simple math as can be to calculate the GPA, they don’t need you to tell them what it is.

That’s what I thought thanks

Everyone that it happened to said it disappears around 7-7:10. Last night my daughter’s TO button did not disappear but we tried to log into Lion Path anyway like other members have suggested and we got in, which meant she was admitted somewhere! Then the admit letter did not appear until around 7:30 under Communications. I never would have know to do any of this without the advice of others. It is possible her TO button did not disappear because she changed it to optional last week when she saw so many people going TO instead of submitting. She did not want to take the risk being at a 29 on the ACT and went all in with her 4.0 ugpa and high rigor instead.

ok sorry- I meant she won’t want another campus. What is the disadvantage of switching now? Not doubting your expertise, just genuinely curious. Will likely wait but wondering. UGH who knew this was so freaking complicated lol

Which time zone?

If you switch before you have a decision, you’re possibly taking your daughter out of the early action pool. The best thing to do is wait until she gets a decision and then help her exercise her choices based on what that decision is. Try to relax; you’ll know soon enough.

We made the switch last week from Smeal to DUS and we spoke to Admissions to coordinate the change. They looked at her app and told us she is still guaranteed an answer by 12/24. Now I don’t know if things could have changed between last week and this week but it might be worth a call if it is something you are interested in doing.
