A few years ago, I applied to enter Penn State’s grad program. They didn’t even bother to answer me and help me in any way. I went on to Illinois, graduated with a 4.00 GPA and so happy I went there. Penn State can go fly a kite. Anyone who’s thinking about this lover school, DON’T!

Don’t cry about it; they probably rejected you. With a 4.00 GPA from Illinois, move on with your life. Don’t create a new account and talk about a school you know nothing about who “didn’t even bother to answer [you]” a few years ago. That’s lame.

Not lame. Just trying to tell some prospective students what they’re getting into if they chose a school like Penn State. I’m sure you’ve talked about your experiences before to give someone an opinion of what you consider to be a good or bad choice for a school. Just because you don’t agree with my opinion, you’re calling me lame? And don’t asume I don’t know anything about the school. Penn State is not a good chice for a school. And that’s my opinion.

Sounds like some sour grapes from someone that still has a lot of growing up to do. I am pretty sure they didn’t just “probably” reject him, that’s a definite no. Sorry that you were not good enough and our school didn’t want you. Anyway, you definitely boosted the IQ of both grad school programs by going to Illinois, so no problem.

Still bitter after four years? I think you need to move on. As a graduate of the University of Illinois I know what a fine school it is. As the parent of a PSU student, I can assure that it is anything but a loser school. (A lover school? Hmmmm . . .)

Wow, this post bums me out…I looked high and low for a school where I could study the art and science of being a lover. I ended up having to go extracurricular – and all this time I could’ve gone to Penn St. instead.

Damn.

BedHead, There’s always grad school.

It’s pretty lame. You create a thread titled with an immature comment backed up with no reasoning. Why do you say PSU is a loser school? You made such a conclusion without spending a week on campus. Should prospective students not attend this school because you did not hear back about your application to its grad program?

By the way, I’m not saying I don’t agree with your opinion. Your opinion just isn’t logical. From your first post, I gathered the assumption that PSU is a loser school and prospective students should not attend because the school did not answer your application to grad school.

WOW. How old are you again? A post grad student you say? Hard to believe. If you want people to take you seriously try not talking like you’re 12.

I’d be pretty ****ed if I didnt get into Penn State too, especially because I’m having the time of my life here. I am a freshmen, I’ve been here for a week and school is awesome. You should be upset you couldnt experience this amazing school. Good job on Illinois! Penn State has everything youll ever want in a fine university. Prospective student should definitely consider PSU.

Reminds me of my med school interview at Penn State a couple years ago. Not a terrible place honestly, the medical center was decent. I eventually got accepted and they offered a full scholarship, but with the ****** bags I met on interview day, and that fact that it was in the middle of nowhere, you couldn’t pay me to go there… they tried. Although I’m confused about why you made this thread, aren’t you done with grad school? congrats on your 4.0, now go out and get a job man!

We’re not impressed by your fabricated story about getting a full scholarship. You probably just weren’t accepted, ******. The medical center is much better than decent. Honestly, have you ever even been there? Doubtful. Penn State facilities and graduates never need to earn the better opinion of a wayne state grad, it’s the other way around. Penn State has a better name, better facilities, and is overall a better school. Sorry.

Actually with my scores I could have went anywhere. I did get in to Penn State, with full scholarship, that much is fact. I also got a full scholarship from Wayne and Michigan State, and was accepted to several other med schools, in case you wanted to know. You seemingly have no idea about how medical school selection works. I wanted to do urban, not rural, medicine… thats why I turned down Penn State. Have you ever been to the Hershey Medical Center? it’s in the middle of nowhere. I would have been hard pressed to get the same cinical education at Penn that I get at WSU. I also wanted to do research, if you check NIH research rankings, WSU places higher than Penn State by almost 20 slots. Waynes match list is better than that of PSU. If Wayne applied for news week rankings, it would rank higher than PSU because it is strongly based on research funding. And I personally know 2 other students in my class who turned down Penn State…

This is not undergrad, it’s med school, so whatever notions you have of what school is great and not great go out the window. This is not to say that PSU is a bad school by any means, it isn’t. But when you’re going to med school you need to have a better reason for picking a school than “it has Big 10 football, and people know its undergrad!” because in the medical world, that doesn’t quite cut it.

Thanks wayne state…whatever helps you rationalize your life choices.

I’m sorry, I’m not entirely certain as to what you mean. No matter, I think my point is clear.

he is just mad since PSU OWNED his Illini this weekend!!! GO STATE!!!

well i am still going to apply anywway.
since their engineering and chem is ranked pretty high.

I think I want to go here even more now! Apparently PSU is so awesome this kid is still mad he didn’t get in!!

im a freshman here at psu and i love it. ive never been so happy with any decision in my life. if you have any questions pm me ill be more than happy to help

If you were going to Med school at PSU…youd be at Hershey Med…not university Park.

Either way I go to Penn State. Im a junior in Comp Sci and the President of an org in the college of Engineering here at University Park. Ive had a good time while Ive been here. Anyone have any questions feel free to ask.
