Penn State Sandusky scandal

The only people left defending this dreg of humanity are (1) pedophiles who condone showering, oral and intercourse with young boys (2) Penn State alums trying to salvage what little is left of that school’s reputation (3) Joe Paterno buffoons who love PSU football but never played and never went there. Same people who also deny the moon landing and the Holocaust, and think the Catholic church did the right thing in moving pedophile priests from parrish to parrish.

I can’t wait until the jury returns the guilty plea and this monster gets a taste of his own medicine in prison…

Actually, I don’t think anyone on this thread is defending Sandusky so much as they are thinking up all sort of justifications and rationalizations, splitting all sorts of hairs, and twisting themselves into pretzels to defend Paterno and distance him from Sandusky or any knowledge of or association with Sandusky. It’s one big exercise in “Say it ain’t so, Joe!”

I think the only people actually defending Sandusky are his attorney, his wife, and the others who testified in his defense.

Here is a list of all charges.

[Jerry Sandusky list of charges by count - CBS 21 News - Breaking news, sports and weather for the Harrisburg -York -Lancaster -Lebanon Pennsylvania area](http://www.whptv.com/content/Archive/story/Jerry-Sandusky-list-of-charges-by-count/_HVj3CqSBEq3CQosRcMCww.cspx)

I have been in communal showers before, at the YMCA, camp, school, etc. Most adults don’t stand next to kids that aren’t their own. And if it’s a shower area with several shower heads most people use shower heads a bit apart to give each other space. So why would a grown man be that close to a boy? Especially if they are alone. There is absolutely no reason for it. If there where ten other people there, maybe theybwould be closer, but there weren’t. If I was in a shower with a child not my own in would not be horse playing kor standing behind them, ever. And as someone said, you get in and out, you don’t hang around and play nor do you encourage horseplay in a shower.

As for Matt testifying, not sure how Penn law works when it comes to new witnesses for the prosecution, but rebuttal witnesses are probably a different story.

Goingmyway, you beat me to it. I just copied the charges and was going to do just what you did. I stand corrected in my statement that all involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charges were dropped, particularly reagarding what happened in the shower. I was writing without having looked at the full list.

I don’t think anyone here is defending Sandusky. However, I do defend his rights under the law. It is in the most extreme cases, that our civil rights are tested and have to remain in place. If the system repeatedly fails in such cases, the rights and the law need to be examined for change.

trying to understand what you mean, “I do defend his rights under the law”

how are his civil rights tested here?

One defense strategy was to say the victims stories and accusations sound alike. That’s how it works. Pedophiles have certain patterns and styles as it were and when they figure out what is effective, they stick to that way. Also, most criminals have a motive operandi, a signature. Bank robbers. Muggers. Rapists.

As for the assaults sounding similar, well, duh, in sex, people have their preferences, and Sandusky seemed to have his.

The prosecution wanted Sandusky to testify. There was no weapon to stop him. He was never going to regardless of what his defense is saying. Every time he spoke in public he made it worse. Those interviews with the press were a kind of test to see how he would handle himself. The idea put forward he would speak in court was a ploy, nothing more

It is unclear whether prosecutors were prepared to put Matt Sandusky on the stand. But NBC News reports that Jerry Sandusky’s defense team decided against having the former coach testify on his own behalf after they learned that prosecutors planned to call a new witness – believed to be Matt Sandusky.

The Associated Press also reported that Matt Sandusky attempted to commit suicide in 1995, several months after he moved into the Sandusky home. Matt Sandusky’s biological mother, Debra Long, told a grand jury considering the charges against Jerry Sandusky that Matt was upset about staying with his adoptive father.

Sadly what we have here is archaic laws. Why rape has to be penetration is beyond me. Some men who try and rape someone cant maintain an erection, so guess it’s not rape.

Not to be to specific but a grown man and a little boy have very different anatomy, size wise, and it could be very difficult to complete and anal rape, doesn’t mean it wasn’t rape.

Laws meed to be rewritten to account for that. And boys can be raped

Seriously - this guy is more guilty then Jeffrey Dammer, OJ and Charlie Manson combined, no person with an IQ above 5 thinks this dreg’s defense is even close to reality. And as I stated many times before on here, we are just scratching the surface on the deviant

[Sandusky’s adopted son now says he was molested, too - NCAA Football - Sporting News](http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-06-21/jerry-sandusky-adopted-son-matt-sandusky-accuses-molested-first-time?icid=maing-grid7|maing6|dl1|sec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D172115)

No surprise there. It was a matter of mustering the courage to talk.

I can only imagine the pain and suffering Matt Sandusky has been going through. How difficult must it be for him to come forward with this. To admit this to his children, or at least know they will someday understand, must be gut wrenching.

As to why he was previously denying it…this is a classic example of how the mind copes with trauma. Look at the case of Jaycee Lee Dugard, the girl who was kidnapped, raped, bore two children, and was so indoctrinated into her abuser’s world, she couldn’t leave. When the police finally found her, she couldn’t tell them her name, she had to write it down. Because her abuser told her over and over to never tell anyone her real name.

You left out Joel Steinberg and Hedda Nussbaum, although I can’t remember if they were perverts or just nut cases.

But I haven’t seen anyone post anything that indicates they think Sandusky is innocent. If you’re saying you think its highly likely he’ll be convicted, then I agree.

Hedda Nussbaum was a victim. Joel Steinberg was the devil.

But I digress.

Probably because, as Stonemagic said, everyone here has an IQ over 5 .

NBC News Brian Williams just said if there’s a not guilty verdict there’s a second group of accusers ready to testify in another case

That doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m sure there are many more. I’m curious to know if they will ever find the victim who McQueary witnessed being assaulted in the shower.

Does it concern anyone that the jury deliberated for seven hours without a verdict, and asked for the testimony of McQueary and the doctor he spoke to to be read back? I guess it takes a while with all those different counts, although I would have cast my vote on all of them in about 30 seconds, I think.

Just to make it clear I never stated I didn’t think anything happened in the shower with Sandusky. I have always believed either rape or close to rape happened. I didn’t think I needed to spell it out for you.
