To add: It is polite to let someone know you are sending one.

I wonder when it goes to court, if spanner, curly, and the rest will fall on their swords for paternos legacy…and jay paterno is in such denial

sport center actually has some good coverage still going on. Interesting to see the big sports people reactions to finding out Paterno knew about this since 1998.

I find it uncomfortable and weird the way Jay Paterno refers to his father as Joe Paterno, not my father, or my dad

He sounds very guarded and practiced. This is not off the cuff. This is someonenwho has been coached on how to handle then press. Which is fine. But is denial.

And why was he told not tomcall him dad? Indeed weird.

But he ismstill belittling the abuse. Wow

Not likely . Those 3 are not the falling on their sword type. More likely they will claim it was ALL JoePas fault . blame the dead guy

Oh, I think JoePa knew about it well before 1998.

Look, he was a really smart guy. He knew everything. He controlled everything. Sandusky was his closest associate for more than 30 years.

(Why would ANYONE at this point, with the statue up and the library named, want to say “We are Penn State”?)

">>‘none of us wants to be judged by the worst things we have done.’ yada yada<<

The same rationalization could be used to let off a bank robber. Judging people by the worst things they have done is exactly the reason why we have criminal courts."

Exactly. Some people refuse to take their blinders off.

Me too phillyfed, I think he comes off as very insincere by calling him by his given name, and not dad, or my father. I just wrote that on another thread. It’s kind of creepy…

given all that came out in emails and meetings between the four, imagine what they said, “off the record” about Sandusky’s behavior all those years. What did they REALLY think he was doing with boys in a shower. Did they just on some level say, “aw you know Jerry, up to his antics again”

did anyone see anything in the Freeh report addressing WHY Sandusky retired in '99. It’s noted on the timeline but didn’t see any reason provided. Obviously that $168,000 payment to Sandusky is mysterious. Was that a “go away quietly” payment.

If the actions taken by the students were a one-time thing, I would agree. But, the plan is to have the “Blue Out” campaign as an annual event. I hope that, like THON, it will become a permanent activity/event for Penn State students.

And, no one expects the scheduled Blue Out campaign to have an immediate change, but it’s a start. A definite step in the right direction.

<<it is="" not="" the="" organizing="" of="" an="" annual="" event="" to="" fight="" pediatric="" cancer="" that="" i="" am="" against,="" at="" all.="" it="" self-congratulating="" tone="" accompanies="" every="" year.="">></it>

I think the students who chose to get involved in an activity that raised over $10 million last year deserve to feel good about it.

I love the notion pf Joe reporting to his bosses…pretending he had no power…kinda cute

“Obviously that $168,000 payment to Sandusky is mysterious. Was that a “go away quietly” payment.”

I think it was just the “downpayment”.

I’m sorry but going to a football game and wearing a blue shirt is no sacrifice. Its wow see we are doing something!!!

The best thing they can do is admit that they worship false gods, football and paterno.
Doing it at a football game is actually kind of sick. It’s where Sandusky paraded around with his victims.

pod: I get exactly what you meant in the THON post. It is a wonderful amount of money raised for a very worthy cause by an army of students who could easily use their time in less altruistic ways. It is, concurrently, the 800 lb gorilla that can never ever be criticized or scrutinized, and is a little smug at times about its own purity.

There are many ways to do good. Let’s hope the students continue to come up with them, implement them, and guard their school’s reputation with integrity, instead of following in admins path and “guarding” it with lies.

Thanks, Greenbutton. Maybe you have to live in the area (I’m not in State College, but close enough to get a dose of it every year) to understand.

No good deed…

Interesting.

Sorry if I think dressing in blue at a football game is some sort of amazing thing.

Maybe skip the game that day and volunteer with at risk kids?

Oh and jaynpaterno said he wished there had been signs of a problem…really?

<<no good="" deed…="">></no>

No joke.
