Penn State Sandusky scandal

Where and when? I thought with the exception of the early incident victims only have come to light within the context of the Sandusky trial? I haven’t seen anything that would indicate hostile feelings on the part of the university administration toward the victims for goodness sakes. The mob mentality doesn’t hold any credibility and hopefully doesn’t have any influence and I have certainly not heard any outpouring of harassment against the victims.

I am associated with Penn State. I have absolutely no problem imagining Penn State without football. There are thousands more like me.

“I haven’t seen anything that would indicate hostile feelings on the part of the university administration toward the victims for goodness sakes.”

I don’t think Professor Emeritus Sandusky had any animus toward his victims either. On the contrary, he loved them all greatly.

I read thru some of the report, especially in regards to BOT notification of events thru 2010/2011. BOT were in NAME only. One of the recommendations the report made in regards to the BOT, was -every Board member must have an email address. So in other words, they did not even have email addresses. What century are they from.

Penn State BOT meetings are accessible on line. When reading them it is clear how utterly clueless they were, how much was hidden from them. It read like a RAH RAH pump of Penn State with all the different accomplishments students and staff had accumulated. Nobody had the guts to ask ANY questions. The attorney working with Spanier also needs to be pulled onto the carpet.

If I were an alum and or had a child at Penn state, I would be FURIOUS they were as incompetent as they were. NOw that the head of the snake is cut off, it shows why they can’t find their way out of a paper bag.

I think it is going to get much much worse, although if they don’t clean house of the current BoT, things wont change. It is CLEAR as day, Spanier Curley Schultz and PAterno ran the entire show, the entire show.

You might if they were left with the decision to call the death penalty on PSU football and they voted “Yes”.

1moremom, serious question: Would you feel relieved in any way if they put football on hold at Penn State? Like now you can all move forward on this in a positive way. Or would it feel like something had been taken away from the PSU experience unfairly? I guess that’s a complicated issue.

I understand the legal process is still ongoing with Spanier, but I do not understand why Sandusky has not been stripped of his Emeritus status. He is a CONVICTED child molester. That should have been done by the BOT asap.

And the NCAA needs to act, asap. If this is not a lack of institutional control, what is? If Penn State wants to self impose sanctions (I doubt it, but it could happen), fine, but the NCAA should step up. Sandusky was recruiting for Penn State Football. Paterno was head coach, the failure to report was to protect the football program. It’s all about football. And evil.

I don’t think they should talk to one group…I think they need to listen to many different groups of people. The whole point is to get the perspective of many different people with many different interests that are impacted on a day to day level not arm chair quarterbacks from around the country and not to have a knee-jerk reaction, I think this administrative has had too many knee jerk reactions. Remember there are two things happening…what is happening criminality which will deal with fault and punishment which is separate from what the college should do to fix the problem that enabled the criminal activity in the first place and to restore a sense of leadership and ethics.

In the linked story, the Paterno family states that to think the Joe Paterno protected a known pedophile is false. Hmmm, so are we to believe that Joe Paterno did not understand that having sex with children is pedophilia?

IMO, the Paterno family is getting really bad advice OR the arrogance is an inherited trait.

I never thought the Freeh report would be the end of this.

It is interesting to see how the world (i.e., Google) sees different schools. Last year, Stanford’s football team had a record of 11-2 while Penn State was 9-4. But one gets a very different impression about the relative importance of football when one searches for images on Google.

[stanford - Google Search](http://www.google.com/search?num=10&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&q=stanford&oq=stanford&gs_l=img.3..0l7j0i10j0l2.2120.3648.0.4803.8.8.0.0.0.0.48.349.8.8.0...0.0...1ac.zqqSoBgJ4jo&biw=1194&bih=956&sei=gUoEULTeI4rx0gHyybTaBw)

For Penn State, the images are almost exclusively related to football, apparel and logos. Stanford is much more balanced.

THAT’s the one. It’s the same arrogance that made Sandusky flaunt a Penn State jacket when reporters came to his house to question him, and when police came to arrest him. Like, look at me, I’m from Penn State, therefore I must be good.

Come on momofthreeboys. Surely you can come up with a better plan than to set up committees of all of the people who will be affected by this decision. Let’s see how long we can drag out the process. Maybe the noise will die down. Maybe, just maybe we can save this stinking, rotten carcass of a football program.

The season starts soon. A decision needs to be made soon. The culture of Penn State is completely intertwined with Penn State football. That needs to be undone. Penn State needs to show that it is more important than its football team. The only way I see that happening is to shut it down and rebuild from scratch. But, I am open to other possibilities - I just haven’t seen any viable ones yet.

As to all the people who suffer collateral damage as a result. Sorry for your luck. But you had a fun ride. Too bad it was an illusion.

They should stick to finding Nicole Brown’s real killer.

So, Professor Emeritus Sandusky took young boys on recruiting trips to away games, etc., after being made Emeritus. Were his hotel expenses (and travel) paid for by Penn State? Did they cross state lines?

Are there criminal ramifications for Penn State? Were there Mann Act violations? (Lawyers - have a field day!)

Just on CNN…Three more accusers have stepped forward.

So I take this to mean that the victims should be consulted? What weight should be given to their opinions?

As of December 2011, Professor Neisworth remained listed as a professor emeritus on the university website.

Penn State has a habit of leaving/giving child pedophiles emeritus status.

So, if my speculation proves correct (my batting average so far is pretty good), this is when JoePa started covering for his closest associate, the Professor Emeritus.

“As of December 2011, Professor Neisworth remained listed as a professor emeritus on the university website.”

It’s part of Penn State’s record of “academic integrity” and “high standards”.

Where are the ADULTS?
