Penn State Sandusky scandal

What does ‘everyone needs to get over it’ mean? That the natural feeling of disgust brought about by the scandal and PSU’s reaction to it should be forced out of everyone’s mind? Not going to happen. The thought of Penn State football will bring a sickening feeling to many, many people for a long time. That’s just human nature, and no one is going to care enough to think, ‘I need to get over this.’ They will feel disgust, just like they feel disgust at many other distasteful things. Right or wrong, it is what it is.

THis isn’t just about football. The young man who were abused and ignored by PSU have not yet been addressed yet. This is only one part of the this catastrophe.

Are you sure you’ve read the Mann Act?

Prove that they knew what Sandusky was doing, and you may have an argument. For Curley and Schultz, someone else is going to do that heavy lifting for you, in criminal court. But since you keep specifically mentioning Paterno, I must again ask you for proof that he knew.

[State College, PA - Former NCAA Leaders: Penn State Got Raw Deal with Penalties, But No Room for Recourse](http://www.statecollege.com/news/local-news/former-ncaa-leaders-penn-state-got-raw-deal-with-penalties-but-no-room-for-recourse-1147233/)
Given the source I must consider it slanted, but it certainly calls into question what the results would have been without the singular efforts of Mark Emmert.

^^

as in the singular efforts by Emmert to orchestrate a negotiated deal to save the program from the death penalty? The NCAA pretended to look tough all the while fully knowing there was no sympathy for the football program.

This was a travesty of justice, and not that because it was too harsh. As far as this panel, well let’s be charitable and call it biased. Although better terms come to mind.

Well, I knew someone would deliberately misinterpret the “get over it” statement. So, for the record, of course I don’t mean we --any of us --should ever get over feeling revulsion and horror over the things that happened to the victims. But it might be time for both sides to stop opining about how the NCAA ruling was not what they wanted. It is what it is. I for one would rather turn that energy toward something that would actually prevent this from happening elsewhere.

All we can do on message boards is interpret the posts as best we can. There is no tone to go along with the posts, nor is there a personal relationship with the poster to aid in interpretation. Posts are misinterpreted repeatedly; it’s part of the action.

What we can do, however, is refrain from accusatory words. I usually don’t post here, but I read along often. You have become very combative, greenbutton, perhaps because of your love of PSU. I can understand that, but perhaps it’s time for you to back away.

And with that, it is time for me also to back away. Good day.

Actually, I haven’t found greenbutton combative at all.

I understand perfectly what your intent was, Greenbutton.

How should these posts be interpreted, rosieleem? Please enlighten:

Debating students’ “innocence”? Students’ innocence??? Suffering??? My word.

I know that you said you read along often. Perhaps you missed commenting on these more pernicious and slanderous comments. That you and others do not say anything speaks volumes.

Do have a great day, rosieleem!

Why in the world would a PSU radio station give Sandusky air time? This is a legitimate question. There may be a good reason for it, but it escapes me.

I hate to see Godwin’s Law at work.

Because it is a student run radio station? (Or, perhaps, because like many “adult” run radio stations they thought it might get people who would otherwise never have heard of them to comment on their programming?)

.

I had just listened to his statement. I am puzzled as to why PSU would put that on it’s station, given his sociopathic rambling, claiming HE is the actual victim of a conspiracy. I hope the victims’ voices drown his out at the sentencing hearing tomorrow.

corbitt appears to have some friends

and now for the good news.

This years incoming class at university park has higher 50% SAT scores than last. PSU continues to attract and enroll excellent students…as always.

oh …and rosieleem has posted in one and only one thread on CC ever…this one.

^Your point sax?

I think sax’s point is clear. And I agree with it. I reviewed posts on the thread going back a ways and didn’t think greenbutton deserved the rebuke.

The ComRadio clip was not an interview with Sandusky, it was an audio clip statement that the radio station obtained without Sandusky’s lawyers’ knowledge, or so the story goes. As to its newsworthiness, all I can observe is we seem to have listened to it or read a transcript, so it apparently has some interest attached. I think the students have quite a bit at stake, moreso than all of us, so why shouldn’t they be interested, too? (said in a quiet, non combative tone ;)

Prayers for the young men who choose to speak tomorrow morning. May we all hear their voices and see their faces in our communities.

Just when you thought it was safe to shower again at PU, this idiot opens his mouth…as if he hasn’t done enough damage to the school and his family already. Somebody put a muzzle on this scum of the earth and never let him speak again.

Hoping he gets a Taste of his own medicine in prison
