Penn State Sandusky scandal

MYbe it’s just me, but seeing a professional colleague who I sorta reported as having at minimum committed assualt on a child and then seeing him for years and years and years and years with more little boys and in fact facilitating Thpse relationships, i think I would be guilty of something.

As for gain, what did the catholic church have to gain by covering up for child rapists?

It wasn’t like Sandusky disappeared and paterno never saw him again. He supported second mile, he gave access to the sports program and he publicaly embraced sandusky. Paterno wasnt passive in this. He was very much in the middle and with his info to support this animal is unforgivable.

[Victim 1: “Do I blame Penn State? No.” - Onward State](Victim 1: "Do I blame Penn State? No.")

Interesting article appeared in Onward State chronicling continued discussions with Mr. Aaron Fisher (Interview by WNEP’s Jon Meyer). When asked about the NCAA sanctions, Mr. Fisher replied:

“Ya know, I think that is a bunch of bull. I don’t think they should’ve had that. Do I blame Penn State? No. Do I blame Penn State students? No, not at all. Their students had nothing to with this. It’s just that the people who were put in a position to help didn’t.”

Interesting is poor word choice; candidly, I am humbled by this young man’s response.

“It’s just that the people who were put in a position to help didn’t.”

“This is the part of the situation that confuses the heck out of me. What EXACTLY did Paterno gain? There seems to be a lot of evidence that he didn’t particularly like Sandusky.”

So we agree that Paterno didn’t like him, and that he kept him around. There are dozens and dozens of good defensive coaches who would have liked nothing better than to work for JoePa, who supposedly was an excellent judge of people.

So why did he keep him around? Connect the dots…

mini, mini, mini…just say Nu-uhhhhh, and save yourself from permanent carpal tunnel damage. And you are slipping. You forgot to call him “Professor Emeritus Sandusky”.

Aaron Fisher is to be commended for his journey to wellness and wholeness. It is a shame that in order to advance particular viewpoints or grind particular axes, people need him to be hateful and bitter. (not saying people here, posting.) That justifies their own fixation on the past, rather than the future (am saying people here, posting).

No fixation on the past, but a desire for justice. Sweeping under the rug, turning a blind eye, is what allowed a pedophile to operate for years.

<<and you="" are="" slipping.="" forgot="" to="" call="" him="" “professor=”" emeritus="" sandusky".="">.</and>

LOL!!! And thanks for my evening laugh, too!!!

Adding - nice to be (temporarily) back in the US and at least “near” the same time zone as everyone else!!!

OhioMom, I would submit that seeking justice and looking forward are not necessarily mutually exclusive goals.( I do completely agree that if lessons are not learned from the past, there can be no justice, and evil will continue wherever it is deemed more expedient to turn a blind eye than shine a bright light )

Hug your children, everyone, and be safe and well.

<<hug your="" children,="" everyone,="" and="" be="" safe="" well.="">></hug>

For many, many reasons…YES!

hug your children…and listen to your children

You may have missed the Good News in Aaron’s interview, OhioMom3000.

Rather than point the accusatory finger to those whom much has been given, would it not be wise to note what Mr. Fisher is doing with the lot he has been given?

I saw Mr. Fisher on 20/20 and I am indeed impressed with him. I was simply pointing out that I agree with him. I have never condemned the students at PSU. And I do not have much of an opinion about the sanctions.

Holding the janitor to the same level of accountability as Spanier, Paterno, Curley and Schultz is quite frankly ludicrous. Bringing the Good News into it or not. It is quite sad to see this brought up on this thread over and over again. The janitor reported. It’s in the GJR. We would not know about it today if he had not. However, he did not have the power to squelch the higher authorities from reporting despite the “vulnerability” in doing so.

The attempts to compare the janitor with Paterno on this thread are pathetic.

Thank you for giving me the impetus to elaborate, pilot.

There were only two eyewitnesses to sexual abuse of a child by Sandusky. They both walked away from the abuse and left the child with the abuser.

That is what is pathetic.

Making excuses for them is also pathetic.

Without one of those eyewitnesses coming forward, Sandusky may well have been a free man today, despite the honorable actions of Paterno, Spanier, Curley and Schultz.

Interesting you find “making excuses” for an elderly janitor pathetic, but there are excuses galore for Paterno, et al. We don’t really know how many other eye witnesses who said nothing to anyone there may have been, do we? Over a period of 20 years, there may well have been very many.

and had they stopped him at the time they witnessed him abusing theses boys Sandusky would have been off the streets already.

There is NO excuse for them walking away. None.

No one really knows what they would do unless they were in the position of one of these witnesses. You can only assume and wish for what you would have done. McQueary made the mistake of trusting Paterno. If he had reported to someone with moral authority, instead of Paterno, Sandusky would have been off the streets.

I’m pleased to see Spanier charged with perjury and obstruction of justice. Also additional charges to be filed against Curley and Schultz. I hope this gives Aaron Fisher an additional sense of justice. Now I’d like to see the H.S. principal charged as well

Well, its official! This needs to happen - this is too important to settle in back rooms or the media, a trial is needed to resolve it. I just wish Paterno could get a trial as well.
