Penn State Sandusky scandal

“Easy–they react to your presence.” _ Hunt

He noticed “both” “saw” him not sensed he was there.

sax, do we need more of the us against them mentality. I’ll stop using the word apologists if you stop lumping everyone as EVIL bandwagon!

Your request for more accuracy in quoting is duly noted.

According to this article from MSNBC, the judge who granted bail to Sandusky was once a volunteer for Second Mile. Seems she would have recused herself from the case due to the mutual connection, but in opposition to prosecution requests for $500,00 bail and a requirement for him to wear a leg monitor, she actually granted him $100,000 in unsecured bail. Whether or not this was a reasonable action on the part of the judge, I imagine she is going to take a lot of flak for this one.

Interesting article on Tom Corbitt and the grand jury investigation

Interesting piece in Philly today

[Penn State sex abuse scandal could very well widen | Philadelphia Inquirer | 11/14/2011](<a href=“Penn State sex abuse scandal could very well widen”>Penn State sex abuse scandal could very well widen)

Corbitt is a very questionable figure indeed. If he has anything to do with the release of the grand jury report, he should be impeached and sent to jail. The question remains, what is the rationale behind keeping the 2 administrators and pay for their defense while firing the president and Paterno? Also why McQ is also on paid leave and not fired? I think I can see where you are going with this sax, and this raises the possibility of a very interesting and dubious plot by the Corbitt.

Still, there is no question to me that there was a cover-up and kids continued to get hurt because of it. In some ways, they are all culpable.

Sax, the only problem with that article is the assumption that Corbett voluntered or had a choice whether or not to be on the BOT. As gov, he is an automatic trustee, no choice given. The question the article did not investigate was his actual involvement in the BOT meetings and day to day responsibiliites as a BOT member. Another article written stated that Corbett was not generally present for meetings of the BOT, the meeting he attended last week was unusual. That indicates to me that he was kept “in the loop” about that the BOT as doing, but the BOT was not necessarily “in the know” about what he was doing or what he knew. It may be an instance where having him a member of the BOT allows for the sharing of PSU sensitive information to the position of gov. (not to Corbett as a private citizen).

Don’t know Pattis but article seems like the usual defense attorney’s pre-trial media stunt – hoping to weaken the prosecution’s case in the eyes of public?? Can’t attack the evidence so attack the prosecutors/DA/Governor/Trustees/whoever? JMO

Another article about how the investigation picked up late last fall when Corbett got involved in the case:

Think Schultz is retired after receiving close to a 500K cash payout plus 330k/year. There was an article up stream that listed both Sandusky’s and Schultz’s retirement payments from PSU.

Yes, Schultz is retired. Sorry, my mistake.

I wonder if those involved would be equally satisfied were there to be a crime of murder internally investigated. It’s the severity of the crime that determines who investigates. When dealing with children, which the coaches and Second Mile did, sexual abuse, no matter the form, is a serious offense.

ohiomom…there is one missing body that we know of…so your question may be answered in time.
