Penn state vs Ohio state for computer science

Hello everyone

I recently got acceptence letter for PSU and OSU for computer science
honestly I was B student so I am very thankful that I got into both

However, I have very hard time deciding which college I should go.
I feel like OSU has better campus town and probably provide better internship opportunity
However, PSS has higher ranking on CS (according to US news 18 to 28).
I believe skill as an individual programmer is substantially important than ranking but I am not really sure.

I also got accepted for UMass Amherst for 10k scholarship per year but they asked me to change my major from CS to Mathematics major.
I am very confident that I can transfer into CS major and I like UMass’ high reputation for CS but not sure if I should take the risk.

What do you guys think?

BTW I am int’l student so sadly I will be paying OOS tuition for all of them

I wouldn’t worry about ranking at all. If there’s a campus you feel more comfortable at, go there.

I think State College is a nicer college town than Columbus, and it’s also 4-5 hours from major Eastern cities such as DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, Pittsburgh.
However Amherst is nicer with the 5-college consortium. CS there is great but I’m not sure how difficult it is to switch into it from Mathematics.

If you do not have direct admission to the CS major, here are the requirements to enter the CS major:

^ And at PSU, nobody has direct admission, so be sure to check those out, OP.

For internships I’d say this is true, Columbus is a large city (pop near a million) and the state capital. Whether you like it vs State College is a personal thing.
