Penn Vs Pitt

I’m sure this has been well debated numerous times, but like many others, I’d like a nice fresh debate that is more personal to my criteria in a school.

My only criteria is:
-Good marching band (Guess that = good football program?) Which probably goes hand in hand to what is next…
-Good athletics
-Good academics (I’m going into Electrical Engineering)
Good student body/social life ( I’d like things beside clubs/bars to do outside of campus since I don’t plan on drinking and I’m hardly a party person.)

The key part is which is better with merit aid (which i think is Pitt if I’m not mistaken) since I live in NY and the OOS needs to be cut down significantly.

Pros and Cons with explanations for them would be nice as well.

(I posted this question in a couple other areas, for a more unbiased view)

I’ve applied to both schools, and have had relatives who have gone to each school.

Summary:

Penn State:
-Better for EE
-Less Aid than Pitt (typically)
-Heavy Drinking/Partying Culture (There are alternative acitivties as well, but just be aware that the vast majority of students do enjoy alcohol consumption.)
-Great Football Program

Pitt:
-Good for EE, but not as good as PSU (personal opinion)
-You can get fairly good aid if you have superior credentials
-Drinking/Partying atmosphere exists, but there is more variety since Oakland is ajacent to Pittsburgh which is much larger than State College
-Football program is good, but I wouldn’t put it at Penn State’s level

I hope this helped.

I don’t think anyone would argue that Pitt’s EE program is better than PSU’s.

I would agree that the vast majority of people would see eye to eye with you, but I the way I worded my response was meant to avoid insulting anyone who thought otherwise.
