Penn's Masters of Lib Arts at College of Gen. Studies?

Posted in the Penn forum since they get all the Penn students, but since the grads ar eon this side, figured I would post here too.

Is there any kind of “stigma” attached to this particular school at Penn? I want to apply to Penn for grad school and at this point, I have so many interests I am not sure that I want to continue in Linguistics. I love language in general, but I also have other interests that can be tied in with language but are not particularly linguistics specific…like music and to some degree mathematics. The list goes on with me…I am also interested in other languages, communications, accounting…I mean, I want to get into all this stuff but I cannot do it just focuing on linguistics…and frankly, I will get bored if I keep going in linguistics. I want some more variety and freedom.

I am just wondering if I shoudl consider the College of General Studies…particularly the Masters of Liberal Arts. I like the flexability of it and the captsone project sounds interesting. I am also inquiring about the College of General Studies in general as far as the environment and how a degree from there is looked upon. No, I am not exactly sure where I want to go with my career either. (can you tell?) But if I can do some dabbling, I may be able to get a clearer picture of what I want to do next.

Anyone have any insight or advice? Is this school any more difficult to get into than other schools at Penn? I see that the GRE is not required (from the website) which kind of shocked me, but I stink at standardized tests anyway so I ain’t complainin’.
