Pennsylvania State University

Is Penn State University Park a respectable school? How does this school do in the job market and is it considered a top tier 1 school? I got accepted to the Smeal College of Business for Management Information Systems and I want to know how good of a school Penn State is. Thanks in advance!

Your question is fairly vague. Penn State is certainly respectable. As for being tier 1, it is not by most measures.

Your performance and GPA, where you intern, and how well you present yourself will have a larger effect than where you go to school. Penn State can offer you all you need to succeed.

You can easily do a lot of research on Penn State, to see how where rank. But it’s your fit at the school that matters more.

From your other posts, it looks like you are at Penn State right now, and that you are already in the Smeal College. Why don’t you pop down to your own career center and ask them about job and internship placement, and where the graduates end up? They can give you a much better notion about your future opportunities than we can.

If the issue is that you don’t like Penn State, and you want out, but someone (parents? friends? former teachers?) is telling you to stay there because it is “better than X”, then you need to do a bit more research about X, don’t you? It really would be perfectly fine for you to contact the career center at X and ask about their job placement because you are considering transferring there.

Penn State is arguably the best Public school in the Northeast and their business school is very good

I briefly went to PSU, and it was definitely a great school if you’re in the Business, Engineering, AgSci and a multitude other pre-professional programs. I’ve met many people who graduated from Smeal and found great jobs.
