People not happy with PC-mac transition?

We always hear about how people are so happy to make the transition from Pc to Mac… Is there anyone here who was not happy with their switch to mac and why?

I have a couple good friends who switched to Macs from PCs and both are very pleased with their new computer arrangements. However, since you’re looking for negatives, I believe one of them expressed his disappointment with the lack of program compatibility with Macs. Not quite retail programs, but rather small “utilities” people uploaded for download to add to those programs.

Macs are terrible OMG! You must not know anything about computers…all about Linux baby…

Oh god… my dad is in love with linux. For cpu illiterate pple like me, i love my mac… it is my best friend. Pc’s give me a headache.

PEOPLE! Seriously, it’s not that hard to switch from a PC to Mac! Just expect 1-2 days to get used to Mac OS X completely.

The hardest transition is for someone who used pre-OS X to go from OS 9 (and earlier!) to OS X. Being an Apple user since 1989, I had gotten very comfortable with the old OS. Even now I hate OS X compared to the old system. Don’t hand me stuff about memory management or stability–I know it’s better on OS X but the interface, virtual memory, fact that Mac OS X is to Unix what Windows is to DOS (old OS never ran on top of something), and the fact that I liked the old non-OS X programs way better (like HyperCard, MacDraw, etc), plus the fact OS X is non-customizable (I don’t want my scroll bars to be only blue or gray!) makes me hate the product. I’d take Windows 95 over OS X.

I begrudingly use OS X for movie editing since iMovie 4 and 5 need it. Also use it for web surfing because my Windows computer is too old to run at decent speeds. And it’s not stable–crashed on me earlier today while using Safarti, the worst browser ever.

But for people transitioning from XP/Vista to OS X, it shouldn’t take too long. Both are over-bloated OSes that are so dumbed down to suit novices (aka 14 year old girls who abuse MySpace and subsequently get abducted) and are about equal on the “easy to use” spectrum.

For me, I have done most of my recent work on my old trusty Mac OS 6 computer. That’s right, OS 6. The computer lacks a color monitor, an internet connection, and QuickTime, but it does everything else I want it to and some stuff that I can’t even do on an OS X computer. Now if you really want a productive machine I suggest you switch to OS 6–no internet to distract you, easy to use software, and a clean and customizable interface!

Linux Is Still The Greatest!!!

Linux > OS X. Linux > Windows.
