Trying to do a textbook reservation and the form wants a people soft number and a student ID number. Are they the same?

no they are two different numbers

the people soft number is 7 digits the student id number is longer

People soft and student id number are both the same(I am a current Pitt student).

There are actually two different numbers. Some forms we had last year asked for both a people soft number and student id number. For example, I’m looking at a meal change request form we did last year and it asked for both. the peoplesoft number is 7 digits. this is the same number that I see on the tuition bill. The student id number starts with 2P000 i think it may be the number found on the ID card (Panther Card) itself. I have no idea why they asked for both numbers. I think the people soft one is most often used.

Pamom is right, your Peoplesoft is associated with your student account (I.e. tuition and billing). Your student number (aka 2P number found on your Pitt ID) is associated with verification, and also things like room access. They are different and sometimes both are required.

Thank you!
