Percentage of Need Met

where can I find out a particular college’s stated percentage of need-met?

What do you want to know? Do you want to know if a college meets full need for all?

Or are you asking about the average %age of need met? The average %age of need met is a meaningless n,bet because it won’t give any real estimate bout how much YOUR need will be met.

The %age of need is on the Common Data Set.

If you want to have a sense of your net costs at a college…use the net price calculator on the college site.

Are you asking about URI or UVM? You are OOS for both. So I would expect that the %age of your need met would be way on the low end…these schools typically do not make up the difference between the in and out of state costs of tuition. Neither school guarantees to meet full need for all. UVM is more costly for OOS students than URI.

In addition to what @thumper1 says, even if a school claims to meet 100% of demonstrated need, it is based on the school’s definition of need, which may be different from yours/your parents.

Also, public schools typically have better FA for in-state students and worse or no FA for out-of-state students. Although some states’ public schools’ FA is bad for in-state students and worse for out-of-state students.

Run the Net Price Calculator on each website…what is the result?

The average need met means NOTHING to any particular applicant. That number has to do with those who matriculated, not accepted. So if a school is lousy with aid, then likely many enrolled are affluent and have little need.

And if a school is a public, then likely the majority of their students are instate, so it’s much easier to met much of their need. An OOS student with need will likely have little need met.

Run the Net Price Calculators and tell us what results.

It sounds like the student has been accepted to UVM and URI…and is my awaiting the financial aid package.

Just wait and see…that’s really all you can do at this point.
