Does anyone know for community colleges what percentage of students earn a 4.0, 3.75, 3.50, 3.0 etc etc ? I’m just wondering how competitive things really are, how many students are earning over 3.5 gpas etc. I have had a hard time finding any info on it, thanks !
http://www.gradeinflation.com/Californiacc.html suggests that the grade average at California community colleges is around 2.7. This does not say anything about the distribution.
Of course, community colleges, being open admission, do enroll large numbers of only marginally college-ready students, and many of the stronger students bypass them in favor of starting directly at four year universities, so the relatively low grade average reflects in part the nature of the students there. It does not really say anything in particular about how difficult it will be for a more committed student to get A grades.
