Perfect GED and ACT Compass scores can cut credit requirements for A.S. at community?

I’m one of those people who went the GED route, but I have about 800 on all the sections of it which was the top score when I took it. I also get almost max scores on all sections of ACT Compass entry exams; I can get the best score sometimes on math and science sections of up-to-date ACT Compass tests.

I’m wanting to go get an A.S. Computer Programming degree from a local community college. I have the cash saved to do it, but want to know how much time/credits/money my perfect scores will save me? I’ve confirmed the school uses ACT Compass for placement. The degree is 65/1.5 years/~$1,900 credits total.

Thanks. I searched and didn’t see this discussed for community and only vaguely for universities.

Wow almost 4 months and no answer… I’ve asked this other places too, and nobody seems to even be able to approximate anything…

Try calling the college to find out. BTW, getting placement does not necessarily mean you get credit for the previous classes. You may just start farther in the curriculum.

Yeah starting ahead is the goal. I know acing ACT will at least bypass all the basic education prerequisites they give to under-scoring students. It’d be really nice to bypass some of those 70(was 65 at time of posting) credits too and trim off some time&money.
