So I’m first in class at a pretty decent school, have a 2240 on my SAT and take a full schedule of AP’s. I’m also president of various clubs and have other extracurricular successes as well as TONS of community service. Recently I skipped a class to go help with a club and our dean found out (it was unexused) he said he was putting “cut class but did not ditch school” on my “‘permanent record’” could that affect my admissions chances?
I think it is pretty minor to skip one class.
People put that on your record? It’s so specific; I find it strange. It won’t matter at all, honestly. Don’t worry about it.
I wasn’t too worried, but my dean made it seem like a big deal to be on the “permanent record” so I was really just confused.
Yes it is unfortunate that they put such a small thing on the permanent record. YOur school must e very strict. Best to avoid a recurrence.
Scare tactics. Your college file readers are gonna look at your GPA/transcript – and if you were a drug dealer or not. ONe unexcused absence? Your principal is the Wizard of Oz – “Ignore that man behind the curtain!”
You must go to a really REALLY tiny school.
Is this international? Otherwise your principal is ridiculous.
Even if it goes on your permanent record, I don’t think most colleges will really care at all. Also, he probably meant your attendance record, which colleges won’t look at.
He’s doing a Dean Wormer impression.
At least he didn’t put you on double secret probation.
I think that schools would want more “Ferris Buellers”! Rock on!
Were you suspended for it? If not, I doubt it will have any effect.
Darn, someone already beat me to Animal House.
