personal photo?

Would you ever put a personal photo like a senior portrait, wallet size maybe, of yourself in the front of your portfolio under your personal info (address, etc.)? Or would that be inappropriate? Was thinking it may help if you have visited the school in making the connection to remember you.

I’ve never seen a personal photo included in an architecture portfolio. However, I’ve seen some self-portraits make it in…

I’m sure it’s been done before, but probably unnecessary. For the most part architecture departments are pretty small and the number of applicants are far fewer than the huge numbers for the colleges in general, plus I feel the folks doing the arch admissions are really good at what they are doing. When my then hs son attended an architecture education seminar in LA last fall (400 miles from our home) that had booths staffed by admissions reps from several of the colleges he was in the process of applying to but had not visited, he randomly approached the booths and two schools had reps that each upon reading his nametag knew he was applying and the status of his application… I was very impressed. At a different school, during the campus wide open house he stopped by the arch dept office unannounced where a woman behind the counter read his nametag, causally said hi ______ and reminded him that he was still missing one part of his application…

I recall some schools requested or required a self portrait in the portfolio, but can’t recall which.

Better than the photo would be phone calls and e-mail exchanges with the admissions reps asking good questions about the school and program. The bonus being a greater understanding of the school and the arch program.
