Personal Statement Different From Chosen Major

Concerning the UC apps, I wrote my personal statements about movies and my experience with them. Is it bad that I chose a major (for example biology or engineering) that doesn’t relate to my personal statements? The only reason why I chose a different major is because, realistically, it would be hard to find a job with a major in Film/Media Studies.

Not at all. A personal statement is supposed to give you the opportunity to express any grievances or hardships that may have hindered your success in the past. It can also be used as for miscellaneous feedback, which means you can essentially talk about anything you want. As long as the rest of the application reflects primarily on your interest in whatever major you wish to enter, I’m sure you’ll be fine.
