I came in to high school carrying high hopes because of my success in middle school. All schooling pre-high school was comparable to a breeze for me. At the very birth of freshman year, I came to the realization that it was going to be more difficult than I previously had thought. Now, I wouldn’t say that I slipped through the cracks at any point. I was taking some difficult classes, maybe a little more difficult than I could handle at the time, but ultimately they brought me to success in my junior year. As my transcripts show, I made a considerable increase in my GPA junior year. This shows how my work ethic improved and how I was not discouraged by my previously unsatisfactory grades. Going through this rough time educationally may have strangely been one of the best things that ever happened to me. Through this time in high school, I had to learn how to buckle down and study which is one of the most important aspects of a successful student. Experiencing first-hand the high points and the low points of schooling has given me much more skill to flourish in college than that of a student who has only experienced the highs. It is important to know what it is like to get a C because life is not always full of positives. I now know how to take and conquer the negatives and this will help me succeed at Penn State.
