Hey fellow CCers. I recently starting studying SAT seriously at the beginning of this summer, starting roughly a week and half ago. At the beginning of that, I took a couple of practice PSATs I had found online. Here is the breakdown from

6/10/12

2030

M - 780 (1 wrong)
CR - 650
W - 600

6/14/12

2100

M - 790 (1 wrong)
CR - 710
W - 600

The CR gradually improves as you do more and more tests from what I can see and 3/4 of the questions I missed where Vocab, which I could easily improve later on. Math was always my strong suit so I had no issues there. HOWEVER, I had worked ONLY on writing the 3 days in between and it is the only score that didn’t improve. I became upset with myself. How was I going to get into all the colleges I wanted to with only a 2100? I had been studying from the Sparknotes 7 deadly errors but that didn’t seem to improve my score.

But then I found gold.

[Noun Basics, SAT Grammar Bootcamp #1 - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BAdyDiLCFo&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PLBF11471717353FF1)

This is a 30 video series of all the grammar found in the SAT explained INDEPTH. I really wanted to understand EVERY single question on the writing section and why one thing made sense and the other did not. I got myself a fresh journal and pen. Then I began to take notes on the material he was teaching.

The person in the video is a tutor and I enjoy having the material taught to me in an easy to consume manner.

It took me 3 days to get through all 30 videos and not all the material stuck with me. However I generally had a MUCH better understanding of grammar.

I then tackled 2 fresh SAT tests. However I only did the writing sections. The first one I completed was not good at all, a 640. Barely an improvement. I went over the problems by reading all the explanations to each question on College Board’s Blue Book Owner’s Area. I took notes again in my journal about stuff I didn’t know. The second one wasn’t much better either, 660. However I went over EACH problem and began to learn everything I needed to know.

Then finally today I took 2 writing tests. I scored 48/49 on BOTH of the tests. That is a 780 (no essay), which could possibly be an 800 depending on my essay score, which I hadn’t worked one.

I believe that it took time for the concepts I learned in the 30 videos to settle and for me to apply certain concepts correctly and begin to understand. Its honestly amazing, I went from not understanding any of the writing questions and sounding them out in my head to completely understanding the sentence structure and being able to digest the questions easily.

WATCH THE VIDEOS. THEY ARE AWESOME.

And thats my story.
