Peter Jennings Dies From Lung Cancer

This is pretty sad. He’d been the anchor for ABC News all my life, it’s sad to see him go, at the age of 67.

He never even graduated high school. It’s amazing how far he had come.

He JUST died!!! This is really shocking  I loved watching him on t.v. :(!!!

He is an inspiration to us all.

R.I.P. Peter Jennings

Wow OMG wow…There aren’t any words to describe this. I have been watching World News Tonight for as long as I can remember.

He’s in a better place now though, God freed him of human suffering!!!:(:(:(

that truly is such a shame/

It is indeed vrey sad to hear he passed away. He was easily one of the best reporters of our generation. What really got me was that it was 9/11 that appearently made him return to smoking.

Jennings was an awesome broadcaster and his style was always comforting. It was great knowing that everyday the news would be given in such a warm and professional manner.

^^Agreed. He was my favorite anchor out of the three, by far.

wipes tear

yeah i grew up listening to “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.”
Its pretty awkward without him now =</p>

sigh… In the 7 years i’ve lived in the US, i’ve always stayed loyal to World News Tonight.

I’ve been watching ABC World News since I was six years old… Peter Jennings has always been my childhood model… and now… it’s gone…

I almost cried but held it back because my mom was there and she’d make fun of me.

Dang! I really liked Peter Jennings. I was kinda sad this morning… :(

It’s amazing how if you had to ask to name a newsreporter, everyone would pretty much know his name.

He’s been everywhere and talked about everything.

This is so sad. Lung cancer is a terrible disease (my grandfather died from this) Let’s hope a cure is found, too.

There is a cure for the vast majority of lung cancer cases. It’s called Don’t Smoke.

This is sad. I want to be a (print) journalist and he was such an inspiration. And both my parents smoke too.

You know that the late Christopher Reeve’s wife just got diagnosed with lung cancer? I feel soo bad for her now…sad stuff :(

I just read about Dana Reeve and it gave me pause…I also found out 2 women at work, one in her forties, one in her early fifites, have lung cancer. One never smoked, one did in her twenties. Makes you feel vulnerable, but you can never be too “safe”.

coureur, he had stopped smoking but started again after 9/11 because he was so depressed.

he was pratically crying on live television over 9/11.

thats quite sad. Im reading the tipping point and it cites a study done on the three major national news anchors. Compared to Rather and that other guy; Jennings was found to be the most persuasive.

He brought pride to the profession of journalism.
