Peter Pan Live - What do you think?

Not sure if I’m just more in the mood for a musical or this production is that much better than last year’s Sound of Music but I’m enjoying Allison Williams as Peter Pan. I had no idea she was Brian Williams’ daughter. Liked the mom and the kids - tuned in late so not sure about the dad.

I turned it off. Watching Big Bang Theory

Christopher Walken is an odd character. Big Bang Theory, really? It’s the new I Love Lucy - on somewhere every 15 minutes.

I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would. So far, it put The Sound of Music to shame. I didn’t realize she is Brian Williams daughter.

So I flipped back after posting and Christopher Walken looks like he’s about to fall over.

Ugh. Not doing it for me. I think it’s such a weak musical to start with, and Allison Williams lacks the charisma, voice and acting ability to be the charismatic Peter the show requires. Also disliking Walken as an energy-less Hook. Having talented pros like Borle and O’Hara on the stage just makes the stunt casters look worse. I hate the disrespect shown to Broadway professionals by this nonsense.

I can’t recall–was the live Sound of Musical also on a school night? Seems like a poor choice for a show like this that’s even more geared to kids.

I’ve had enough. Bailing for Gracepoint and Project Runway!

Christopher Walken’s eyebrows are odd.

Its Thursday-- How to get away with murder is on (the two shows I watch before are pre-empted)

Though, I do enjoy a little more cowbell and Colonel Angus.

Christopher Walken does not appear to be the right choice for Capt. Hook - he does look Asian and like he’s reading his lines. I do, however, like Allison Williams very much. Why is this disrespectful to Broadway? Not everyone can get to New York and pay for a family to see an expensive show. I have a hard enough time doing that in Atlanta at the Fox and quite frankly their line up last year was not very good - Cobb Performing Arts theatre was better.

Yes, last year Sound of Music Live was on a Thursday night.

I’m watching too. Alison Williams is a MUCH better actress than Carrie Underwood. IMO.

I like it much better than last years Sound of Music. At least this is staying on for background noise. I am not sure I am a fan of stage shows on TV.

I’m watching it and reading tweets and having a blast. The reactions on Twitter is what’s making this enjoyable. I honestly don’t know what to think of Walken. The makeup, the tap dancing, the pink umbrella – it’s just so absurd.

PBS just had an incredible Jam session with Gregg Allman, Jackson Browne was there, etc. Must admit I selected it over “I wont grow up”

Jackson Browne went to my High School…a bit before me. It was said he was “cool” even back then.

Brian Williams was cute when his daughter was chosen for the role. He gave the news about the casting, and said it was a role she had been preparing for since she was little, and showed a photo of her when she was about 8 in a Peter Pan costume. He never said on air what their relationship was.

Other than the fact that for some reason the sound is very slightly off from the video (a problem with our cable provider, I am sure), I am enjoying it a lot. And, yes, reading Twitter is a hoot. So many people finding things to grouse about that are just silly…like “why is everyone British”…why is Peter Pan played by a girl, etc. The touring company of Peter Pan came to Atlanta years ago, with Cathy Rigby as Peter. My D and I went because she was in the cast of the NEXT production at that theater, so they all were given tickets (and some for guests). It was surprisingly good and a lot of fun, and this production is bringing back those memories. Also fond memories of when I was very, very young and there was a production of this show on TV starring Mary Martin. :)

I just think it’s disrespectful to the Broadway community to cast people like Williams and Walken in lieu of musical theater actors who have been honing their craft for years. Like Carrie Underwood, they just aren’t qualified for the roles. I could say the same for some of the casting in the movie version of Les Mis.

Oh puleeze…this is a TV production, not a Broadway show. I think it is quite good…and I think young kids who would watch this would enjoy it. Not up to your standards.Momma? Sorry, not everybody can go to NY to see shows.

Wasn’t Williams a drama major at Yale and in an Improv group? That would give her a significant edge over Carrie Underwood
