Pets?

So, I’m waiting till I turn twelve to begin studying to be a falconer, and it’s a life long commitment. I want to have a red tailed hawk, because they forgive you easier than most of the approved falconry species. But I want to go to UCLA when I’m older, and a hawk isn’t the kind of pet you leave at home for a few years. So, could I bring my fine feathered friend with me?

Did I mention I’m still in middle school?

Probably not if you are living in a dorm, which is required at a lot of colleges for freshman. You are a long ways from going to college, though. Who knows where you will end up? Or if you will still be interested in falconry, or own a bird at that time? But good for you for thinking long term about taking care of a bird before you get one. Maybe someone else involved in falconry could take your bird for your first year of college until you can move off campus if you attend a school where you can’t have it in the dorms. It could make a great EC and college essay topic if you stick with it, too. Now my avatar and I are going to hide behind a rock, as your avatar could easily eat mine for breakfast!
