The treasurer was intimidated by the ---- demenor of the auditors who neither spoke nor smiled when they arrived.

a. amiable
b. ehtical
c. glacial
d. taunting
e. nondescript

I narrowed the answers down to C and E and I chose E, nondescript because that means lacking distinguishable features…Doesn’t that accurately describe people that wouldn’t speak or smile…?

I remember doing this one. I ultimately went with C because it has more of a negative connotation, which is definitely implied in the sentence - their demeanor was intimidating. Nondescript has more of a neutral connotation.

Nondescript would be more bland looking people. They’re not intimidating. You wouldn’t really notice a nondescript person, because there is nothing that stands out. Think of average people who kind of blend into their surroundings, like a quiet middle aged guy in an office cubicle.
