Hello, I am an econ major starting my 2nd year, and was wondering if anyone had advice on what kind of grades/test scores to aim for to get into one of the better UCs for econ.
Thanks

You’re looking at 700+ on both sections and at least 5.5 or so on analytical.

Try to keep your GPA as high as possible, but concern yourself more with getting in good research, experience, and maybe some good internships.

how many sections are there? how many possible points in each section? how does the 5.5 on analytical work? I thought each section was worth 800? also is there a special GRE that econ majors have to take?

www.gre.org. C’mon, you’re not completely helpless.

There are three sections. The quantitative and verbal sections are each out of 800, and are quite similar to the SAT in terms of format.

The third section, analytical writing, is an essay section – you write two essays, and they are scored from 0.0 to 6.0 in half-point increments.

There is no economics subject GRE.

Thank you very much.

What is a good GPA to aim for? 3.5, 3.7, 3.9???
