I take l theanine and benedryl at bedtime for sleep, and l theanine throughout the day for anxiety. I cannot find it anywhere if it is safe to take prior to surgery. Anyone know? Thanks!!!

Benadryl is routinely given as a pre-op med for its sedative effects.
Please consult with your surgeon and anesthesiologist prior to your surgery regarding the advisability of taking an additional dose the night before surgery.

questbest–I agree-you need to talk to your surgeon. If you can’t get in contact with your surgeon, call the hospital and talk to the surgery center. Every surgery is different. DD is on the couch recovering from surgery and she was not to take ANY medication at all before her surgery.

^^^^Agree. MOST anesthesiologists will give you a call the night before surgery, but they don’t always connect. I would not take anything the night before without running it by your surgeon or anesthesiologist first.

SteveMA, glad to hear that D’s surgery went ok!
