Pharmacy plus Spanish

I understand that with the pharmacy program there isn’t a specific “major,” but I was wondering how possible it would be to add a focus on Spanish into the prepharmacy track/pharmacy program.

The pre-professional requirements entail 62 credits required in two years, which comes out to 15.5 credits per semester if you only count the traditional fall-spring semesters. You can always add courses to those 15.5 credits, but that takes you up to some significant course loading. Not to say that it can’t be done, but it’s likely to be a burden. Remember that you have to maintain a certain overall GPA to retain the conditional acceptance.

Here’s a link to the listing of all the pre-professional courses Pitt Pharmacy requires:

@rlw329 since 18 credits are electives so depending on how many AP courses you are bringing in, some of those could be Spanish. I would discuss it with your advisor and see what you work out. I wouldn’t take much more than the 15.5 credits a semester. It’s a difficult curriculum and you have to make sure you keep your grades at a level where you’ll be accepted into the PharmD program.
