PharmD Program

<p>I am wanting to do a PharmD program. I was planning on going to Campbell University however i thought id pick a school a bit less expensive, so i picked UNC Chapel Hill. Now, the University site has an Academics list, then the site has schools that special in MS, PharmD, Ph.D.'s ect. The PharmD Program has a list of prerequisites. The list includes a list of Chemistry Math Physics ect. Then there is a list of things like English 101 and general education. At the top of the page it says “Students with a baccalaureate degree must only complete the math and science prerequisites. Students who do not have a baccalaureate degree are required to meet the general education requirements, as well as the math and science prerequisites.” Now my question is, If i Bachelor in something, what am i supposed to Bachelor in? Under the normal UNC Chapel Hill Academics the only Pharmacy thing they have is Pharmacology. I dont really understand what im supposed to go into the school and take so i can enter there PharmD program. Im just really confused. Can anyone tell me anything. <p>You can major in anything you want, not just something that’s in the college of pharmacy. You could do trombone performance and take the science and math prereqs and be good to go. I would major in something that seems like it will have good back-up options just in case you don’t get in to pharmacy school. I recommend calling the admissions office if you have questions since they will best answer them :)</p>

<p>I’m an economics major who took mostly programming classes prior to transfer and I’m still doing my pre-pharm requirements incase I decide to pursue that career later in life. </p>

<p>No pharmacy school that I’ve seen cares what your major is. They care how you did in chemistry/bio/calc and what your overall GPA is. Landing a random job at a retail store in the pharmacy department also helps.</p>

<p>What they’re basically saying there is that you can either: </p>

<ul>
<li>Take all of the required science/math classes plus the brief list of general education classes the pharmacy school specifies and <em>maybe</em> be admitted a year sooner.</li>
</ul>

<p>or </p>

<ul>
<li>Take all of the required science/math classes while also getting a BA/BS degree (in anything), in which case they will just accept the general ed requirements which your undergraduate program required for bachelors graduation.</li>
</ul>
