PhD in applied linguistics

hie. I am an Indian student majoring in Linguistics. i want to pursue my PhD in Applied Linguistics (Educational linguistics, precisely) from one of the Universities in US. However I have not been able to decide which universities to apply to. Linguistics is not a very popular field, so there is an absence of college rankings. And therefore I have not been able to make up my mind.
Pleeeeasee helpp!! :(

Thank you :)

You should ask this question in the Grad School Forum. Click on "Discussion Home" in the upper-left of this screen and then scroll down to find it.

You should be reading research journals in the field that you are interested in, and find out where the authors whose research interests you are working. Then you can contact one or two of them to find out about studying at their universities. At the Ph.D. level, the university and even the department often aren't nearly as important as the specific professor.

okay. i would do that. thank you so much. :)
