PhD in Microbiology with my stats

Hey everyone, I signed up on this forum just to see if I can get some advice so go easy on me :slight_smile:

I have a passion for microbiology and would like to pursue a PhD in that field.

My statistics are:
Good State University
3.1GPA in Microbiology
1 year doing on campus research in bacterial genetics with poster presentation and may publish soon
Summer intern at biotech company

I know that I won’t be getting into the best schools, but will I at least have a shot at some other universities such as UNLV, Oregon State, University of Oregon, UCR, UCSC etc…?

I will be taking a gap year to either work in biotech industry or keep volunteering in my current research lab.

You may have a shot! Maybe add some master programs too? That way you can show you are able to handle grad school and make the 3.1 less of a factor? But I would add more schools to your list. I don’t know your field though, maybe try thegradcafe website? Good luck!
