<p>If you were given the choice to do a PhD under a philosophy department or a political science department, which would you choose? Let’s assume that your interests were mainly in political theory, the funding was basically the same (TAship either way), both departments are about equal in standing in their respective disciplines, and the main difference came down to which discipline you wanted to get a job in down the road. Is there an advantage in being based in one discipline over the other?</p>
