Hi, I am looking for some insight.
I am currently in a Master’s of Art program concentration on Psychology. I will graduate spring 2016. My plan is to go on to my PhD in psychology.
Here is my dilemma, I am a single mom of a 4 year old and I am an older student.
I know I will need to relocate to attend school. My daughter will be almost 6 by the time I go to the next level, fall 2017. I have been trying to research different schools and I have noticed living on campus is usually mentioned. I do not know how my daughter and I would fit into student living facilities. I have not seen mention of children on campus for nontraditional students like myself.
I believe I understand the amount of work necessary to complete my program and the amount of time, however I do not know how my daughter will fit in. I guess in reality I am looking to find out how family friendly university is.
Right now I am attending school online, which I will not do in my PhD program. I do not know how this will also impact my chances of getting into a good university.
What are the odds someone like me will be able to get into a university and accepts students with children. I have not taken a GRE yet and have no idea where I will end up on that either.
Thank you for any insight.
