What’s the difference? I know that PAD is more ‘official’ and thus would be useful in the future in terms of connections (i.e. let’s go a little off here and say you’re talking to one of the Clintons, you have that somewhat remote, yet existing connection through PAD).

On the other hand, I don’t want it to be a detriment to my academic record because after all, getting into a good law school is a thousand times more important than having that connection through a fraternity at this point.

Will joining any of these pre-law organizations drastically help me in the future, or is it a complete waste of time? Does PAD do any of these initiations or rushes or whatever they call them? I understand that commitment is a necessary trait, but again, if it kills my GPA, I don’t want to go for it.

Any anecdotal stories? Experiences? Good or bad and why?

The only things you need to get into a top law school are high GPA and high LSAT (unless you plan on going to a TTT like UCI’s law school). Don’t waste your time and self study for the LSAT through bible games and upkeep your GPA.

UCI law school is not a tier 3, because that requires being ranked. It will not be ranked for several years. Also, I will point out to you that UCI’s numbers for its first class were similar to UCLA law’s.

However, I concur that only a high gpa and especially a high lsat score really matter for admission to law school. I believe you are asking about making connections for benefit in future employment, however. Honestly, I don’t think any of these organizations are going to help too much.

Generally when TTT is used, it doesn’t literally mean Third Tier. I can call schools ranked in the 90’s TTT because of their lousy job prospects and national mobility.
