Phi Beta Kappa: prestigious?

I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from a liberal arts college 20 years ago. I don’t remember much about it, other than some ceremony and now getting email from Phi Beta Kappa every now and then. I then went to an Ivy (think either Harvard or Yale, but I don’t want to give myself away) for law school.

My mother CONSTANTLY talks about the fact that I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the liberal arts college. I couldn’t care less; I would guess that the average person doesn’t even know what Phi Beta Kappa is, and those who know would realize that since so many schools have chapters, being Phi Beta Kappa somewhere isn’t that hard.

So…is Phi Beta Kappa prestigious? Is it even worth listing on a resume?

Thanks.

It is prestigious and worth mentioning on a resume. But I wouldn’t mention it verbally -people won’t really care, and it seems like bragging. You must have also graduated summa or magna cum laude if you were phi beta kappa. That should also be on your resume.
