Phi Theta Kappa vs. Alpha Beta Gamma

I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa earlier this semester, which I did and now I am being invited to join Alpha Beta Gamma. I plan on joining that as well but what are the differences? I’m sure it cant hurt to be included in either of them but is one a lot better than another? Just curious. Thanks, Vinny

I’m going to generalize here from my experience with a number of different honors programs that I’ve been a part of, including Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Alpha Lambda, and a couple others I can’t remember. Basically, none are significantly better “brand names” than any others so if you’re trying to just decide which to invest the $70 in, it really doesn’t matter that much. Whichever you choose, if any, you need to get involved in the organizations somehow to make it worth your while: apply to exclusive scholarships or get involved in any extracurricular activities they offer. Without that, you’re paying $70 for what will be a minor point on your resume for maybe a year or two.
