Backstory: I am a sophomore in college an I got invited to be apart of ptk. I paid the membership fee and now I’m waiting for the packet. I have two questions.
- Can I change chapters? I am an online student ( Keiser) and I am registered for the fort lauderdale chapter, but I live in orlando. Also I will be moving to NJ next year and will want to be apart and involved in the academic activities of a chapter. If I can’t change chapters how can I participate?
- I will be transferring to Rutgers next year, will being apart of ptk matter or help me ?

I don’t think there are any issues with joining different chapters. I think it’s a one time fee for lifetime membership, and all of the different chapters are part of the same organization. It’s meant to be a mutually supporting network, so I can’t imagine a chapter would ‘refuse’ membership to a member of a different chapter.
That being said, I’m not really “in the know” as far as PTK is concerned. I joined PTK basically so I could have it on my transcript and transfer applications. It is a good organization with a lot of benefits for the people that are more active in it though. I just don’t really have any extra time to devote to PTK alongside my involvement in other organizations.
