This looks perfect, except for the pricetag.
I would really like to take a philosophy course through a summer school at a prestigious college.
I’ve also looked in Harvard, Stanford, and more and they are all more expensive than Oxford is (not counting the travel prices).
Does anyone know any cheaper philosophy programs for high school students?
Most of these programs are not really what they look like: most of them are expensive summer camps that simply rent space from colleges with famous names. If you read the fine print on the Oxbridge program, for example, they will tell you that they have no association at all with Oxford beyond renting space.
So, the actual quality of the course could be as good or better at a less ‘prestigious’ college or program. If your real goal is to study philosophy, research philosophy summer courses, leaving out the ‘prestigious college’ key word (for example, here: http://www.debatechamber.com/summerschools/philosophy-summer-school/)
If your goal is to make your college app look better b/c you have spent time on a ‘prestigious’ college campus, don’t bother: admission committees are not impressed by that. Honest.
