Philosophy major

Any insight? How hard is this major? What kind of careers could one possibly get into with this major upon graduation?

To be perfectly honest, I would always do philosophy + something else for a career, unless you want to go into academia. It’s sort of like math. You could go to law school or if you like logic, double in philosophy and math and study logic in graduate school, etc.

But as you’d imagne, just knowing several great philosophical works isn’t the most practical thing. I’d say do the major you love, but have a plan to make things work later on – they may or may not be philosophy-related.

My parents always told me that being a philosophy major is good for thinking about why you don’t have a job… But if you do something else with it then its cool. Shows that you are a great thinker in some other subject.
