I’m going to Phoenix for four days…and am looking for a hotel for just Feb 14 and 15. Apparently there is some huge convention, and rooms left are $500…and up…everywhere I’ve checked.

Anyone have any suggestions? I figure if there is a good idea…the collective wisdom of the CC cafe posters will have it!

How much are you willing to spend? Will you have a car? Is there a location you need to be near? It’s high season in Phoenix so prices are up there. There are rooms available a a boutique hotel in the E. Phoenix/Scottsdale area for around $300. Not great, but better than $500 (and a really cool place). You can get lower than $500 in Scottsdale too. It really depends on where you want to be and if you have a car! If you can give me more information I can see if I can help. I grew up in AZ and have family there, so I’m familiar with the area.

What part of Phoenix is your son in? It is a big metro area. You could be staying in a hotel and be in Phoenix, and still be 40 minutes from your son.

He is on the north side of Phoenix. I realize I could be a distance from DS. We have stayed at the Clarendon, Holiday Inn express, Westin Downtown. None were 40 minutes from DS.

Are you trying to stay near your son? Where in North Phoenix? Northeast, Northwest? The Hermosa Inn is listed as Paradise Valley, but is really just north of Phoenix on the East side. That’s the boutique I was mentioning. But it really depends on where you want to stay.
Hampton Inn Phoenix Biltmore is showing rooms at $199. It really depends on the specific area you are looking at.

I want to stay somewhere that I can get to via the Light Rail. That does not seem possible on this trip. I don’t really want to post my kid’s exact address on this forum for obvious reasons. He is IN Phoenix but on the north side of town.

I’m thinking the air mattress for a couple of days will be fine. We have never spent more than $150 a night on a hotel…but then, I guess we have never been there on a major convention week. This runs from the 13th to the 19th.

Sure, not looking for his address, just general area because Phoenix is huge! The light rail explains the area better. I’m sure those hotels fill up first for the same reason-they can get to the convention center using light rail. I think you’ll be better off with staying with him, even though it will be cramped!

I agree. Thumper: Maybe you could spend the money on a good quality cot of some sort that can be folded up and stored for you the next time you go and visit! :)
