Phone call for accepted deferrees?

I was reading the Stanford archives (specifically [this post](www.collegeconfidential.com/discus/messages/8/57450.html)) and it sounds like SCEA deferrees get a phone call if they are later accepted. Can anyone confirm? Also, it sounds like the call comes before the letter, perhaps when the letters are first sent?

Bah, this is like SCEA all over again :-|

Looks like it.

http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?8/56523

I was deferred SCEA also, so this is (possibly) great news for me!

ie, before they formally accept you, they call up to inquire whether you are stiil available/still interested.

The goal is to goose the yield rate for admits from the deferred EA pool.

Just so long as they don’t goose us poor deferrees :o

Keep your guard up.

Yeah, I was deferred too and am getting anxious. If anyone gets that phone call, be sure to post!

haha yes, definately

Aw man. I’m going to be in Mexico all spring break (March 27-April 2). Well, hopefully whoever answers the phone could possibly convey my ridiculous passion for Stanford.

My daughter was deferred by Stanford last year. She received a phone call the weekend before April 1 and is now a happy freshman at Stanford. I know that this is a very stressful time. Hang in there-- there’s hope!

uh oh. if they do call… I don’t think Stanford has my phone number… eh. wtvr.

Hmm, the weekend before April 1st is Easter weekend this year, I doubt they would call then, perhaps we might get calls this weekend? hopeful

No calls this weekend here. Does anyone know if any other schools employ this technique?

any rumors of phone calls yet?

nope. i got an email from Northwood University and Western Career College though…

Well, if you’ve gotten into schools of that caliber I think it’s basically pointless to wait from Stanford, just accept admission to the elite WCC.

lucky… .

yeah… if i dont get in anywhere else… i think im gonna take Western Career College over MIT… it just has more prestige.

:) totally! I would rather be at Laney Community College than that silly tech school we call MIT.

Laney? I can’t get into Laney… = / WCC it is.

lol you can totally get into Laney :D

WCC -“You caaaaaaan do it!”
