I submitted the personal app last night…and got a call about a half hour ago from the vp, telling me that they’re delighted I applied, and talking about that they would like my info within 10 days. They then gave me the phone number and her name, and asked if I had any questions. I said no…is that bad? Was this like a “mini-interview”…I was caught off guard ya know? Or am I just worrying too much? Thanks.

Don’t worry! They’re just being friendly and trying to personalize an impersonal process. The call was mostly about giving you personal contact information in case you develop questions later.

Ironically, those calls are from a marketing firm, not the admissions officers. Nothing wrong with that and it is a step up from the traditional letter, but NOT the veep or any of his staff, in all likelihood.

I personally think it’s a very aggressive, creative approach. When ours came I quizzed the person and he new absolutely nothing about the admissions process at Tulane. His answer was “call admissions about that.” I sorta chuckled.
