My family got rid of our land line because we never use it, so we have a phone number, but it leads to nowhere if you call. When colleges ask for home phone numbers, should I still put it down? Or should I put my parents’ work phone? Any other suggestions?

I can’t put cell number because I use it for when they actually ask for the cell.

I don’t think it’s required.
If anything, you can always substitute your parent’s cell numbers or even work numbers, as you said.

Only use numbers where they could actually reach you or leave a message for you. Leave the home number blank if you don’t have one and just put the cell number. About a quarter of the country doesn’t have a land line now so that’s pretty normal.
