Phony to ask for sophomore year teacher for recommendation?

So I am a high school junior, and during my sophomore year, I had a good rapport with one of my teachers. In the very beginning of this current school year, I asked her to recommend me for a summer internship, which she did. Now, I have fallen out of touch with her, as I have not been in her class for ~6 months. I need a recommendation for another internship, and I am considering just asking her again, because she can just use the same one. She runs an after-school club, and I am considering going there a few times in order to make her more comfortable when I ask her for another rec. Would this be a phony move? Is it ok for me to just email her to ask if she would write one? Or should I ask in person? Or should I ask a junior year teacher instead?
Please advise
Thanks

I’ve written lots of letters for kids I taught as sophomores. (Our kids request at about this point in Junior year, so it makes sense to ask a soph teacher.)

Teaching isn’t like being a friend, where you’re expected to keep in touch. There’s absolutely nothing phony about reaching out to a soph teacher with your request. Don’t feel that you have to attend her club meetings-- that would look phony.

Please be sure to give her a “brag sheet” of some sort. And mention that she’s already written you a letter, since it gives her a starting off place for this letter.

@bjkmom Thanks for those thoughts. A few follow ups: 1) Do you think she’s saved her old letter? 2) Should I ask her in person, or via email?

I’m sure she has her old letter in her computer. It would be nice for her if you asked her in person but email is ok too. It isn’t a personal favor. It is a professional task (although not an obligation)-not the least bit sensitive from the teacher’s perspective.

I agree… that letter is in a file on her computer labeled “class of '17 recommendations.”

In person is nicer, if you can manage it.
