Did the dog whose paw is in the pic do the polishing??
A few more:
The lions did a kill on each side of the road one morning. They moved to the second kill and left the first one for the hyenas, buzzards and storks. Warning it a little grim but it was fascinating!
Apologies if any are duplications. Its hard to recall where I shared what
Yep, she was my assistant!
@jym626 - thank you for sharing all of your photos. H and I were at the zoo last night hoping to see our new pandas, but they were already off display for the day. We did see most of the animals in your pictures above. A safari is definitely something I would love to do one day.
@jym626 These pictures are fantastic - thank you so much for sharing! And I’m so glad this trip all worked out
Still waiting for our second bag to be delivered…… At least the one with DH’s camera just got dropped off. Weird that they got separated, and are VERY easy to identify (duffles supplied by the safari company with large branding/logo on them).
DH goes back to the ortho Weds. He did the whole trip with one arm casted (a pain but we managed) and hope it’s healing adequately and won’t need surgery (jury is still out).
Adding a pic of masai, @worriedmomucb
Super Blue Moon August 19 10:19pm.
I’m no photo pro. But the striking thing about this photo is that is was taken at 10:19pm tonight and yet look at how bright it is! I was in the house and literally thought someone was shining a spotlight in our backyard!
Aren’t they being displaced? : (
I don’t think so, but not sure. There were encampments and villages , the latter of which we visited.
And I book once read for book club. It was very interesting. https://www.amazon.com/White-Masai-Exotic-Tale-Adventure/dp/0061131539/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1DN4K13QZQ95P&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fT4AKZwW5Y2Dlfey3sdhNq5KXmXgqbsJWp_wuy1qORQ0esENF5pTlquctY0YgXpJ2zxBBzzauxR5O8i4z5fpL6E9AzINnbJK5QcdNRNWXG6-jPixh5x_Jey8qzTDFx5P.6y3BHMruQDk9XT0YD_cnkBzZ4Dkk9YQsvebV2nGqymg&dib_tag=se&keywords=my+masai+life&qid=1724177120&sprefix=my+masai%2Caps%2C433&sr=8-1
We were in protected land/parks, which are HUGE and allow for masai settlements. We saw lots of herders and livestock (cows and goats and sheep).
Here’s one of my wild animals. He’s in a board and train program as he’s stubborn (our border collie is the opposite) and reactive - goes crazy and wants to greet animals and people (bc reserved) and can be hard to control sometimes. The trainer sends me photos and an update every night. Today they went to the park to practice “place” and to build his confidence. Looks like he’s doing well but not all that enthused about it lol.
Thanks for sharing! I just looked, and I have 2,705 photos from South Africa on my phone. And that’s just 3 of 5 trips, since I didn’t have a smart phone the first two times.
What brought you there 5 x?
