Pics from a recent brief visit to Honolulu (not a real snowflake in sight but the islands had a flood warning because of the heavy rains).

Yes, in our state, you really have to search about and go to Big Island and Maui at the right time to find any snowflakes. Haha! Nice photos!

Six to nine inches of snow predicted here, starting this afternoon.

We’re in New York for Christmas and checked out the flagship Macy’s. The escalators on the top few levels were an interesting surprise.

I remember those escalators at Macy’s!

There’s a historic, flagship Macy’s in Pasadena CA which is really lovely and is decorated with the original furnishings and art pieces. And the original children’s barber shop too!

These escalators start on the first floor.

The escalators start on the first floor but they’re the standard steel type until the last few floors, where they’re the original wood.

Sorry about that. It’s been a while since I was in that store.

The escalators are much easier than their elevators. There must be a bank of at least 10, and by the time I see one going in my direction, the doors are closing. I still love that Macy’s.

I haven’t been to the NYC Macy’s in almost 40 years, and those rickety wooden escalators were terrifying way back then!!

High heel shoe traps!

I was reading a book where one of the characters had a birthday tradition of biscuit donuts, made from Grands biscuits. I stopped reading and checked to see if that recipe was really a thing. Why yes, it is! So took advantage of son’s visit to give it a try.

Those look delicious! My grandmother taught us to make those when we were little- we would put the fried doughnuts in a brown paper bag with powdered sugar inside and shake them up. Soooo good!

With my español inglés amigas (some of them) at an ugly Christmas sweater party at a bar last week. I am on the right.
