I’m currently an Undeclared Life Science 2nd year student, and I was wondering a couple of things.

Due to personal troubles, I might not pass Chem 14A with Lavelle. I’m signed up for retaking it again with Scerri winter quarter, but out of curiosity, will this jeopardize my chances into getting into the physci major? I was reading the pre-reqs to be accepted into it, and it says that retaking more than one results in dismissal from the major. This is my first time where I might not pass one of the pre-req classes. Because it will only be one (obviously I’m not going to allow this to happen again), I still have a chance right?

Also, what is Scerri like?

Second, I’m not too convinced that physci is the way I want to go. I’m also interested in Business Economics. If anyone can enlighten me on what it’s like, and the admission process into the major, I would sincerely appreciate it.

I was reading the requirements to be accepted into the major, and it says: “The requisite grade-point averages plus completion of the preparation for the major courses do not guarantee admission to the program. Admission is on a competitive basis, using the above qualifications as minimum standards for consideration.”

As I’ve said, I’m a 2nd year non-transfer student thinking of going from Undeclared Life Science to Business Economics. If I do well in all of these core classes for the major, what else could they possibly look for when deciding who can be admitted into the major? What else do they consider if it’s that competitive?
